Une fois n’est pas coutume, sacrifions aujourd’hui à l’actualité brûlante, à savoir le récent palmarès d’Angoulême, et saluons cette extraordinaire revue lettone qui vient d’y remporter le prix “Bande Dessinée Alternative”. 164 pages en couleurs regroupant 27 femmes , auteurs, peintres, graphistes, illustratrices de tout horizon (Lettonie, Lituanie, USA, Suisse, Allemagne, Italie, Pologne, Mexique, Canada, Chine) planchant autour du thème “Female Secrets”… de la variété des graphismes et des écritures se dégage une étonnante homogénéité, due certainement à la tonalité intimiste des histoires. Difficile à trouver en France, mis à part chez quelques libraires pointus ou quelque part sur le web. Il faudra attendre le prochain Angoulême pour découvrir l’ensemble des publications de Kus! puisque chaque lauréat se voit attribuer gratuitement stand et déplacement lors de l’édition suivante.

kuš! #9 is an impressive, colorful brick of comics and illustrations by women cartoonists from around the world (word up, lala and zejian). the content feels like a split between the best of gang bang bong, electric ant and kuš. like a good mixtape, each piece has a distinct flavor that transitions seamlessly into the next. solid art and editing. well played, ladies.
